After having a bunch of problems with getting this to show up on the page, I activated debug and got the following error message:
“Your AccessKey Id is not registered for Product Advertising API. Please use the AccessKey Id obtained after registering at https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/flex/advertising/api/sign-in.html”LOL you are linking to the wrong Amazon program on the setup page:
http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSECommerceService/latest/DG/AboutAWSAccounts.html
(this is for “How do I get one?” and “What is this?” next to the key id/secret fields)This page tells me to sign up for a AWS account, so that’s what I instructed my client to do. Now I have to ask them to sign up for the affiliate program API with the new link. LOL. I’m not sure how the AWS key she made checked out with Amazon in the Setup page – I’m sure that’s out of your control. Hopefully fixing those links helps clear this up.
March 27, 2014 at 08:44 #10720David RogersGuestAh, I just signed up with a test account and it looks like it’s just a separate sign up (a formality, really) to allow access to the API. Pretty weird process. I know she has an affiliate account, so even though your FAQ says to sign up for the affiliate program, that does not automatically allow API access I suppose. I’ve had an affiliate account for years and it asked me to join the API, so obviously my affiliate account wasn’t set up for that either. Might be something to add to the FAQ.
Is there a way to capture this error for the setup page in the future? “Error: You must enable the Amazon Affiliates API too” etc
March 28, 2014 at 04:31 #10731David RogersGuestNow that she’s signed up for the API (apparently it said “you’re already signed up”, but whatever) now the error is gone and the book I’m adding to the page is showing, but the code is all messed up:
Code:
<div class="asa_product_box"> <div style="border: 1px solid <a href=" http:="" askthemoneymentor.com="" ?s="%23000"" rel="nofollow" class="hashtag">#000; padding: 5px; margin-bottom: 15px; background: url(http://askthemoneymentor.com/wp-content/plugins/amazonsimpleadmin/img/amazon_US_small.gif) right bottom no-repeat <a href="http://askthemoneymentor.com/?s=%23ffffff" rel="nofollow" class="hashtag">#ffffff</a>;"> <div style="width: 50px; float: left; margin-right: 5px;"> <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0957556128/httpaskthemco-20" target="_blank"><img src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/416RpqontfL._SL75_.jpg" width="50" height="75" border="0" style="border: 0;"></a> </div> <div> <p style="padding-bottom: 5px; margin-bottom: 0;"><a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0957556128/httpaskthemco-20" target="_blank">Hot Mama in (High) Heels</a></p> <p style="padding-bottom: 5px; margin-bottom: 0;"><strong>Price:</strong> <span style="color: <a href=" http:="" askthemoneymentor.com="" ?s="%23990000"" rel="nofollow" class="hashtag"> <a href="http://askthemoneymentor.com/?s=%23990000" rel="nofollow" class="hashtag">#990000</a>; font-weight: bold;">$14.36</span></p> <p style="padding-bottom: 5px; margin-bottom: 0;"><img src="http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/x-locale/common/customer-reviews/ratings/stars-5-0._V192240943_.gif" width="55" alt="4.9 out of 5 stars" align="absbottom" title="4.9 out of 5 stars" height="12" border="0"> (16 customer reviews)</p> <p style="padding-bottom: 5px; margin-bottom: 0;"><strong>26 used & new</strong> available from <span style="color: <a href=" http:="" askthemoneymentor.com="" ?s="%23990000"" rel="nofollow" class="hashtag"> <a href="http://askthemoneymentor.com/?s=%23990000" rel="nofollow" class="hashtag">#990000</a>; font-weight: bold;">$9.96</span></p> <p></p></div> <div style="clear: both;"></div> </div> </div>
Obviously something is wrong as a link is generating in the middle of the second DIV properties.
April 2, 2014 at 02:45 #10754DaveGuestTurned out to be a plugin called HashBuddy, that keyed off the hashtag in the color style. Turning it off fixed this.
